给孩子"无穷"的快乐 YOU'VE GOT THE POWER

23.08.08 Sat 22:25 Help University College Seminar Room 8

First day of the 30-Hour Famine at HELP University and it has been 14 hours of fasting since 8am this morning. Heheh… I’m really EXTREMELY hungry!!! I want food, food, food...

Reach HELP around 830am but already can see crowd of youngsters gathered around the uni. After registered myself at the counter, I went to meet my group leader, Vin (the cute young psychology student from HELP). Everybody is busy settling down around the lobby and some members already have our Famine t-shirt changed! Mine too...

By 10am, 600 of us have gathered at the lobby, waiting for the ice-breaking session. At 11am, the 11th 30-Hour Famine was officially launched by Dr. Gan, Yee Ling and Chee Lian.

Here is our Camper’s declaration:
“We pledge to willingly and passionately participate in the Famine to help children living in poverty. We are fasting to ensure that no child has to grow up without the basic rights that he or she is entitled to. We are fasting because nothing will change if we do not take action together. I pledge to fast from 10am today to 4pm tomorrow for 30 hours.”

Campers Rule:
No food and liquid drink (other than plain mineral water).
No bathe.
No smoking, gambling and alcohol consumption.

To kick-start the famine, we’re required to bare-footed for the next 6 hours!! The main purpose for this challenge is to for us to experience how children in poor countries suffered because of poverty. They would have no choice but to walk on rocks, mud, dirt and anything that you can imagine with their tiny foot.

The first famine challenge, Poverty.

Famine Concert, 1900 to 2200.

It’s time to sleep now coz there’ll be another long day to go tomorrow. Another 17 hours counting down to break fast tomorrow at Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium.
